Short History
Kerala Baptist Bible College and Seminary (KBBCS) was founded in 1982 to train Pastors and Evangelists who desired to serve the Lord with IGBC and other fellowshipping churches. Originally, it was known as Kerala Baptist Bible Institute. KBBI started with six students. Classes were held in the home of Rev. Thakadiel S. Simon, the founder and one student stayed with his family. Classes were offered in Malayalam. Soon the Institute experienced growth. Thereafter classes were held in the Independent Gospel Baptist Church sanctuary. In 1991, this institution was upgraded to a degree-granting Bible College. In 1998 the college started offering Master of Divinity program. KBBCS is a project of the Independent Gospel Baptist Churches and The Associated Missions (IGBC & AM). The President of IGBC & AM leads this college today. The President oversees the overall operations, is charged with administrative responsibility and serves as the moderator of the Administrative Committee. The Registrar of the College oversees the daily operations and acts as the direct link between the College and the chief Administrators. The faculty, subject to review by the Academic Dean, Registrar and the Chief Administrators, establishes academic policies. Kerala Baptist Bible College & Seminary is in existence to maintain and to proclaim the Historic, Biblical Christian faith and doctrines. This institution faithfully adheres to the Baptist persuasion of faith.
